Syed Omar Faruk (Towaha) is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data science, software development, and project management. Currently serving as Project Manager Technical Lead at the Centre for Analytics, Informatics, and Research (CAIR) since November 2025, Syed Omar applies data science techniques to complex datasets and oversees multiple research-focused activities. Concurrently, as a researcher at the Canadian Space Agency, Syed Omar leads project teams and contributes to machine learning and AI components. Previous roles include Software Developer at the University of Essex, where Syed Omar enhanced data-sharing efficiency, and Technical Investigator at Meta, achieving significant improvements in fraud detection and platform safety. Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Memorial University, Syed Omar holds advanced degrees from prestigious institutions, including a Master's in Data Science from the University of Essex and a PhD in HPC from the University of Alberta.
