Stephan Hoyer

Stephan Hoyer is an AI weather and climate lead at Google Research, where they manage a team developing AI models for weather and climate applications. With a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, their research included significant contributions to understanding energy transfer in photosynthesis, resulting in five first-author publications and multiple international presentations. Previously, at The Climate Corporation, Hoyer worked as a Senior Quantitative Researcher, building statistical models to enhance agricultural productivity. Additionally, they are the creator and lead developer of the Xarray project, a widely-used library for multi-dimensional data in Python, which has received substantial funding and engagement.
