Taru Madaan

Taru (Sara) Madaan, PhD, has a diverse background in optics, engineering, and inclusivity initiatives. Starting as a Graduate Student at University College London from 2011 to 2012, Taru continued studies at the University of Southern California, obtaining a doctorate and serving as a Provost Fellow from 2012 to 2018. During this time, Taru conducted significant research in light field microscopy, focusing on imaging needs for drug development and neuroscience. In subsequent roles, Taru contributed to SPIE as a Research Assistant and has held various impactful positions at Google since 2020, including Senior Test Engineer for the Pixel Tablet, where leadership was provided in automated solutions and cross-functional team alignment. Currently serving as a Technical Program Manager on Project Starline, Taru also leads the Trans At Google Employee Resource Group, advocating for increased accessibility and inclusivity across Google’s products and services.
