Tomas Pfister

Tomas Pfister is an accomplished leader in artificial intelligence research with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Currently serving as the Head of AI Research in Google Cloud since February 2018, Tomas focuses on building a new research group aimed at producing high-impact AI applications and scientific publications. Prior to this role, Tomas was a Staff Research Scientist and cofounder of Apple's Central ML Research Group, where contributions spanned several key areas of machine learning. Previous positions include Deep Learning Research Scientist at Lighthouse AI and Machine Learning Consultant at Cytora, as well as leadership in machine learning at Wakelet. Tomas holds a PhD in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and a BA (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, where research specialties include deep learning, computer vision, and emotion detection.
