William Bishop

William Bishop is a Senior Research Software Engineer currently with Google Research, where they develop AI-based methods for device automation. They have focused their research on deep learning, variational inference, and transfer learning, making significant contributions to neuroscience applications during their tenure at Janelia Research Campus and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and hold both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to their current role, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, where they developed machine learning approaches for brain-computer interface signal stabilization.
