Youngkyu Sung

Youngkyu Sung is a seasoned research scientist currently at Google since October 2025, following the acquisition of Atlantic Quantum, a superconducting quantum computing start-up co-founded by Youngkyu Sung in February 2022, where Youngkyu served as Chief Science Officer. Before this, Youngkyu was a Graduate Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from September 2016 to June 2022, supported by the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, and completed a PhD focusing on high-fidelity two-qubit gates and noise spectroscopy with superconducting qubits. Youngkyu Sung holds a PhD and a Master of Science in EECS - Applied Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in EECS from Seoul National University.
