Darrell Rigel, MD, FAAD, SM is Chairman of Gore Range Capital’s Industry Advisory Board and a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at New York University Medical School. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Sciences and a Master of Science/Master of Business Administration from the Sloan School of Management. Dr. Rigel received his Doctor of Medicine degree from George Washington University. He attended Cornell University Medical Center for his Internship in Internal Medicine and completed his training at NYU where he was Resident, Chief Resident, NIH Training Fellow and Dermatology Surgery Fellow.
Dr. Rigel has led nearly every major dermatology organization in the United States. Dr. Rigel previously served as President of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the American Dermatological Association (ADA) and as Director of the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Rigel has delivered over 1,000 presentations at medical and governmental policy conferences worldwide, has chaired numerous national and international conferences and symposia and is the author of numerous articles and abstracts in professional journals. He has testified before Congress regarding the effects of ozone depletion on skin cancer and his research and opinions are regularly cited in national media including CNN, ABC, FOX, NBC, CBS, New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
Dr. Rigel serves as a consultant to multiple healthcare and pharmaceutical companies. He is currently a board member and medical director for DermX Media Group. He has been a board member of Foamix Pharmaceuticals, Sensus Healthcare, Lumenis, Mela Sciences and Triax Pharmaceuticals and previously founded and served as CEO of two healthcare education companies which were subsequently sold to larger entities.
