Simon Keely currently serves as the Chair of the Newcastle Human Organoid Program for Effective New Therapies (NewHOPE) and holds the position of Professor and Theme Lead in Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Newcastle since February 2011. Keely has also been recognized as a Cancer Institute NSW Fellow and has contributed as an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Immunology and Microbiology at the same institution. Additionally, Keely is the Director of the HMRI Immune Health Program and leads the Gastrointestinal Research Group at the Hunter Medical Research Institute. Keely's editorial roles include Associate Editor at Gut Microbes and Senior Editor at Experimental Physiology. Involved with several organizations, Keely also functions as a consultant for Gossamer Bio, is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Anatara Lifesciences Ltd, and directs the UON Priority Research Centre for Digestive Health and Neurogastroenterology. Keely earned a PhD in Veterinary Medicine, focusing on Cell Biology and Pharmacology, from University College Dublin.
