Mitchell Stoops has a diverse background in transportation planning and coordination. Mitchell started their career as a Public Service Intern at the City of Chicago Department of Planning in 2017. In the same year, they also worked as a Transit Planning Intern at the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority.
Stoops then moved on to the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) in 2019, where they held two roles. As a Transportation Planner, they were responsible for managing TARC's bus stop improvement projects and amenities placement, working with local stakeholders and contractors. Mitchell also served as a Transit Projects Coordinator, ensuring TARC's input was considered in corridor development projects and addressing ADA access and sidewalk improvements.
After their time at TARC, Stoops joined Foursquare Integrated Transportation Planning in 2021. As a Transportation Planner, they oversaw the operation of the Pentagon Transit Center and managed regional transportation projects. Mitchell served as a liaison between regional transit providers and the Department of Defense's transportation department, collecting and reporting operating data for the WHS shuttle system.
Currently, Stoops works at Swiftly, Inc. as a Customer Success Manager, starting in 2022.
Mitchell Stoops attended Drake University from 2015 to 2019, where they pursued a degree in Sustainability & Resilience. During their time at the university, their field of study focused on Environmental Science and Business.
