James Hamilton is the founder, president, and CEO of Gradient Cyber (2023–present), a cybersecurity company whose analysts extend and support client cybersecurity teams. They previously served as President and CEO of TippingPoint Technologies from 2003 to 2009; the company was acquired by 3Com in 2005 for $435 million, and they remained with 3Com for three years post-acquisition as CEO of TippingPoint while running 3Com's global operations. They are founder and director of VitalTech from 2018 to present, and they led Valletta Capital, LLC as President from 2014 to 2021. They earned a BSBA in Computer Science from Lawrence Technological University (1984–1986) and studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio (1986–1988).
