James Smith is an experienced technology leader and entrepreneur with a robust background in software development and management. Currently serving as an Advisor at Gradual and an Investor at both DX and Linear, James previously co-founded and led Bugsnag as CEO until its acquisition by SmartBear Software in 2021. Under James's leadership, Bugsnag became a pivotal tool for over 5,000 software teams globally. As the first employee and CTO at Heyzap, which was acquired by RNTS Media for $45 million, James was integral in scaling the company into a leading mobile gaming community and advertising platform. Early career experience includes a role as a Financial Software Engineer at Bloomberg, where James contributed to the development of a multi-bank foreign exchange trading system, and as a Software Engineer at MPC Data, focusing on embedded systems for the healthcare sector.
