Grain is not defined by the type of film we make, but by the way we approach storytelling and the kinds of stories we tell. We focus on inspiring narratives of humble heroism from around the world following extraordinary characters whose intimate stories speak to macro issues. A cinematic vision and unprecedented access underpins much of our work, as does rigorous journalism and relationships of trust with the protagonists on the screen.

Since our inception in 2006, Grain has gone on to win over 100 international film, television and advertising awards across multiple genres including two Academy Awards®, a BAFTA, an EMMY, a Peabody, a Grierson, IDA Awards, a BIFA and a duPont-Columbia Award for outstanding journalism.

Recent films include EVELYN, winner of the 2018 British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for Best Documentary, Academy Award® winning THE WHITE HELMETS for Netflix, EMMY-winning and Academy Award® nominated VIRUNGA, BIFA nominated SEAHORSE for BBC Storyville, EMMY nominated LOST AND FOUND for National Geographic Documentary Films and The Nobel Prize and Academy Award® and BAFTA winning observational documentary LEARNING TO SKATEBOARD IN A WARZONE (IF YOU’RE A GIRL) for A+E Networks.

TV projects include International EMMY nominated documentary INDIA’S FORBIDDEN LOVE for Witness, TIGERS: HUNTING THE TRAFFICKERS for BBC TWO, acclaimed and award-winning factual series THE CURE and EARTHRISE for Al Jazeera English.

Recent brand focused campaigns and commercials include; MOON SHOT from executive producer JJ Abrams and Google, TV and cinema commercial DO THEIR BUSINESS for WaterAid, global TV commercial WE ARE FIRE for Al Jazeera English and projects for clients such as the United Nations, UNHCR, Nike, New Balance, Samsung, Sony, Diesel and Amnesty International.
