Robert Forties has a diverse work experience in the field of software development and engineering. Robert started their career in 2000 at the University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics as a Technician, where they maintained a high vacuum chamber and designed software for controlling cameras and aligning laser beams. From 2011 to 2015, Robert worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University, where they developed Labview software for nanophotonic optical traps and received a fellowship from the American Cancer Society. In 2015, they joined Advion Inc. as a Senior Software Developer, where they updated and maintained software for mass spectrometers, created quantitation packages, and integrated support for HPLC sample introduction. Currently, Robert is working as a Software Engineer at GrammaTech, starting in 2021.
Robert Forties earned their Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Rochester between 2001 and 2005. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics at The Ohio State University from 2005 to 2011.
