Justin Hanes is the Founder of Theraly, Inc. and Theraly Diabetes, Inc. since 2014, and has also served as the Founder, Director, and Former CEO of GrayBug, LLC since May 2011, a pharmaceutical company dedicated to developing treatments for vision-affecting diseases. Additionally, Justin Hanes is a Founder and Former Director of KALA BIO and currently holds the position of Lewis J. Ort Professor at the Wilmer Eye Institute and the Lewis J. Ort Family Professor at The Johns Hopkins University, both since 2009 and 1998 respectively. Justin Hanes earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in Chemical Engineering from UCLA.
