John Schaefer has over 30 years of experience in various roles related to project management, engineering, and real estate. John is currently employed as the Director of Capital Investments at Graycor since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked at CONLON Commercial for over a decade as a Senior Commercial Real Estate Broker, specializing in investment sales and development site sourcing. During their tenure at CONLON Commercial, they played a key role in deals and transactions with a combined property value of over $1 billion across different asset classes. Before joining CONLON, John worked at Verus Partners as a Development Project Manager from 2005 to 2009. John also served as a Project Manager at Lowe's Companies from 2000 to 2004, and at Camp Dresser & McKee from 1997 to 2000. In the early stages of their career, they worked at MWH, Harza Engineering/Harza Environmental Services as a Project Manager and Engineer, where they were involved in various engineering and infrastructure projects. Notably, they led the project management and engineering efforts for the redevelopment of the Glenview Naval Air Station, which is now a successful 1,600-acre commercial and public land development project known as The Glen.

John Schaefer completed their education with a Master of Project Management (MPM) degree from Northwestern University, graduating between 1994 and 1996. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering (BSCE) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying there between 1983 and 1989. In addition to their academic qualifications, John Schaefer has obtained professional certifications as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as a Real Estate Managing Broker in Illinois.
