Jiawei Chen

Energy Engineer, Asia at Green Generation

Jiawei Chen is an Energy Engineer based in Tokyo, Japan, who works for GreenGen to optimize building system performance across Asia. By analyzing utility data and developing energy efficiency retrofit solutions, Jiawei strives to achieve a balance between reduced utility consumption, occupant comfort, and financial results.

Before joining GreenGen, Jiawei worked as a MEP Engineer in a design studio, where he gained expertise in designing HVAC and plumbing systems of hotel, university lab buildings, sports arenas, and other structures. He is a certified Building Mechanical and Electrical Engineer in Japan and has in-depth knowledge of building equipment.

Jiawei obtained a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Tokyo, where he conducted research on energy conservation in indoor environments. He also holds a bachelor's degree in built environment and energy engineering from Tianjin University. Jiawei is fluent in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, which allows him to collaborate with people from different linguistic backgrounds.
