Todd Rutherford

Todd Rutherford has 20+ years of experience working in wide ranging areas of optical science. Prior to co-founding Greenlight Optics LLC, he worked as a product development manager with 3M. In that capacity, he was responsible for systems engineering and lead customer support for the world’s first Mobile Projection light engine. From 2001 to 2006 he was a senior optical engineer working on components and systems for projection displays. In this role he worked with imaging and illumination systems, diffractive optics, thermal management, opto-mechanical design, electronics, and optical metrology. Earlier, Mr. Rutherford did research on high power lasers with applications ranging from directed energy to material processing to ultra-precision measurement. He is an author on 15 journal articles and conference papers, as well as 10 patents. Mr. Rutherford has a B.S. from Yale University and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, both in Applied Physics.
