Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, Maria started out as a window dresser before settling in the dramatic landscapes of Namibia, where she set up her first garden design company.

Seven years later, in 1998, Maria moved to London, completed a garden design course at The English Gardening School and established Greenlinesdesign. She won a bronze medal at the Chelsea Flower Show 2001.

Maria prefers the symmetrical Scandinavian approach of strong shapes, colours and clean lines, rather than clutter. Using a clear palette of natural materials and planting, her work is dramatically simple, warm and sculptural.
