Mike Schear

Director of Product Engineering at Grey Matter

Mike Schear has a rich and diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Starting in 2000 at Teradyne, they worked as a Senior Technical Lead and Release Manager/ClearCase Admin, planning branching strategies and overseeing the release process. After that, they joined The MathWorks as a Release Engineer and later moved to EMC as a Principal Software Release Engineer.

In 2010, Mike joined William Hill as an Information Technology Solutions Architect/Software Manager, where they focused on the operation and compliance of a sports wagering system. Mike implemented a geolocation system, improving accuracy and reducing operating expenses.

From 2013 to 2017, Mike worked at Stadium Technology Group as a Director of Engineering, responsible for security, networking, and compute for SaaS gaming offerings. Mike implemented a fault-tolerant and highly available virtualized environment.

Next, Mike joined Kaseya as the Director of DevOps/Senior Director Infrastructure Operations. Mike managed a global team of SRE and DevOps engineers, reduced operating expenses, and implemented agile methodologies for effective project triaging.

At Hyper Networks, Mike was the VP of Engineering and IT, building an engineering team from scratch and implementing operational improvements for both MSP and ISP services.

Before their current role, Mike served as the Director of Data Center Infrastructure at a confidential company, and since 2022, they have been the Director of Product Engineering at greymatter.io.

Mike Schear attended the University of Rochester from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
