Will Byrne has worked in the software engineering and research fields since 2004. Will began their career as a Network Co-ordinator for the Nature Inspired Creative Design network at CERCIA/University of Birmingham. Will then worked as a Researcher for the MOBILearn project, where they designed and developed a prototype mobile interface and supporting infrastructure. In 2010, they were a Research Fellow for the CASAM project at the University of Birmingham, where they developed a multi-touch app and a multi-touch app to support undergraduates learning Italian. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Research Fellow at Birmingham City University, where they worked on capturing and encoding design knowledge to build adaptive, generative models for design automation and optimisation. In 2017, Will joined Grid Edge as a Lead Software Engineer. Will leads a small team that develops Angular web apps for both internal and customer use.
Will Byrne completed a Bachelor's Degree in Physics with Space Science and Technology from the University of Leicester between 1991 and 1994. Will then went on to obtain an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham between 2001 and 2002. Lastly, they obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham between 2006 and 2010.
