Katie Kaplan

Katie Kaplan is an Applied Science Lead at Gridware, where they leverage machine learning and predictive analytics to enhance power grid resilience and prevent wildfires. Their career spans roles in data science and applied research, including positions at Meta, Spotify, and Next Wave Carbon, focusing on climate solutions and data-driven infrastructure resilience. Previously, Katie developed monitoring systems for carbon crediting protocols and conducted research on marine ecosystems during a postdoctoral fellowship with the University of California Davis. They hold a B.A. in Biology and Global Development Studies from Grinnell College and are pursuing an M.S. in Marine Ecology from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
