Daniel Baer serves as the Senior Vice President for Policy Research and Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace since January 2020. Baer is also a member of the Board of Directors at Grindr, with a tenure starting in November 2022. In 2019, Baer was a candidate for the United States Senate representing Colorado. Previous roles include Diplomat in Residence at the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School of International Studies, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, and Ambassador and Deputy Assistant Secretary with the U.S. Department of State. Baer has experience in academia as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University and a Faculty Fellow at Harvard University. Baer holds a DPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford and an A.B. in Social Studies and African American Studies from Harvard University.
