Joseph Calver

Joseph Calver has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Joseph started their career as a Presenter of Pre-Performance Talks at San Francisco Opera in 2010. Later, they worked as a Researcher at Stanford University and also served as a Course Instructor, where they taught undergraduate classes in music history and theory. Joseph achieved excellent ratings from students and collaborated with senior faculty.

In 2015, Joseph worked as a Freelance Editor and Writing Coach before transitioning to the role of Volunteer at Age UK Kensington & Chelsea in 2016. During this time, they also pursued self-guided studies in web development, acquiring skills in Java, JavaScript, MySQL, Spring, Hibernate, and more.

Joseph then joined Praesto Consulting as a Consultant in Business Intelligence Development, where they worked from 2017 to 2018. Joseph moved on to it|venture as a Senior Consultant with a focus on SQL and SAS development from 2019 to 2020. During this period, they also embarked on a Career Development Sabbatical, engaging in self-guided study and earning certifications in Java and Azure Solutions Architecture. Joseph designed and built a microservices backend using Java and Spring Boot.

Most recently, Joseph joined Ground Control in 2022 as a Java Developer. Joseph continues to expand their knowledge and skills in programming and software development.

Joseph Calver completed their education with a strong focus on musicology. From 2005 to 2008, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music at the University of Bristol. This formed the foundation for their passion and interest in the field. Building on this, they went on to complete a Master of Studies (M.St.) degree in Musicology at the University of Oxford in 2009. Joseph's academic journey culminated in earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Musicology, specializing in the History, Theory, and Analysis of Music, from Stanford University between 2009 and 2014.

Additionally, Joseph Calver obtained a certification as a Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert from Microsoft in September 2020. This certification showcases their proficiency in designing and implementing solutions on the Azure platform.
