Chanchal Kumar

Chanchal Kumar is a seasoned expert in bioinformatics and disease understanding, currently serving as the Head of Bioinformatics and Disease Understanding at Grünenthal Group since September 2021. Previously, Chanchal held multiple leadership roles at AstraZeneca from September 2015 to August 2021, including Associate Director and Head of Biomarker Discovery Sciences, focusing on cardiovascular diseases and Type 2 Diabetes through collaborative projects with the Karolinska Institutet. Chanchal's experience also encompasses significant roles at Merck and Eli Lilly and Company, concentrating on computational biology and translational research for metabolic diseases. An educational background in bioinformatics includes a PhD from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and a postgraduate diploma from the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Delhi University.
