Dareen Salama

Dareen Salama has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Dareen is currently the Co-Founder and CEO at Gryps, a position they have held since June 2020. Prior to that, they worked as an Industry Advisor at Columbia University in the City of New York starting in September 2019. Dareen also founded their own company, Stratovate LLC, in January 2019, where they served as the Founder until May 2020.

Before starting their own company, Dareen worked as the Director of Technical Services at Lehrer Cumming from June 2017 to July 2018. Dareen also held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute from January 2015 to June 2018.

In previous roles, Dareen worked as the Deputy Project Controls Manager/BIM Manager at STV from February 2012 to June 2017. Dareen was involved in the Usalama Water Project at Engineers Without Borders New York City from February 2012 to January 2015. Additionally, Dareen worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign from January 2010 to August 2011.

Throughout their career, Dareen has gained experience in roles including outreach and service executive, structural engineer, and industry advisor. Dareen'svaried experiences have given their a well-rounded background in engineering, education, and entrepreneurship.

Dareen Salama has a strong educational background in the field of construction and engineering. Dareen obtained their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Harvard Business School. Prior to that, Dareen completed their Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Construction Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dareen also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering from The American University in Cairo.

Before pursuing their higher education, Dareen completed their IGCSE degree from El Alsson School.

In addition to their formal education, Dareen has obtained several certifications. Dareen is a Certified Construction Manager, accredited by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), which they obtained in July 2017. Dareen is also a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute, obtained in February 2017. Furthermore, Dareen holds the Engineer In Training - Civil Engineering certification from the NCEES, achieved in June 2009.
