The GSMB Technical Services (PVT) Ltd is a subsidiary of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and is fully controlled by the Ministry of Environment. As such it is registered as a full government-owned limited liability company as of the 12th September 2001 by the Registrar of Companies under the Company Act No 17 of 1982. Other shareholders of the Company are the National Gem & Jewelry Authority and Lanka Phosphate Ltd.

GSMB Technical Services (PVT) Ltd is the only organization company in Sri Lanka that has the technical knowledge, manpower resources, and equipment including analytical laboratories, that has undertaken projects which are divergent for engineering geology for the assessment of mineral resources. 

The mission of the organization is to provide superior performance in mineral technology and a tremendous commercialized backup facility for mineral development and environmental management in Sri Lanka. GSMB Technical Services (PVT) Ltd strives to be a responsible corporate citizen in the communities where it does business in. This requires us to provide the public with appropriate and accurate responses to inquiries, be sensitive to environmental concerns, and contribute to the well-being of our community.

The registered office of the company is located at No. 190 A, Rathnaweera Building, Stanly Thilakarathna Mawatha, Nugegoda, and the principal place of the business is also located at the same place.
