Derek J. Albertson

Derek J. (D.J.) Albertson is an accomplished professional in the water treatment and environmental management sectors, currently serving as the Superintendent of the Montville WPCA and the President of AFSCME Local 818-MAME. With a diverse background, Albertson holds multiple roles, including Municipal Drought Coordinator for the State of Connecticut, Work-Based Learning Coordinator at both Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School and Norwich Technical High School, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Gateway Community College. Albertson received the 2021 NEWEA Wastewater Utility Award and has experience providing technical advisory services through Guidepoint and Clean Water Ops. Educational credentials include a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Haven and Bachelor's Degree in Geology from the University of Connecticut, among other specialized training in wastewater management and nursing.
