Ryan Heaton has a strong background in game design, with experience working for various companies in the industry. Ryan is currently working as a Principal Designer at Gunfire Games. Prior to this, they were a Lead Level Designer at Crystal Dynamics. At Electronic Arts (EA), they served as a Senior Level Designer for the game Star Wars: Squadrons. Before that, they worked at Bioware as a Senior Level Designer for Anthem. Ryan also held positions at DICE (EA Digital Illusions CE AB) as a Senior Level Designer for both the multiplayer and single-player campaigns of Battlefield 1. Ryan has also worked at Gearbox Software as a Lead Level Designer and Lead Designer on different projects, including Borderlands 2. Earlier in their career, they gained experience at Electronic Arts Los Angeles, where they worked as a Senior Level Designer on various Medal of Honor games. Additionally, they worked as a Game Design Instructor at The Art Institute of California-Los Angeles and as a Level Designer at Midway Games Chicago on games such as John Woo's Stranglehold and Mortal Kombat: Deception.
Ryan Heaton attended Ball State University from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. Ryan pursued dual majors in BFA Illustration and BFA Graphic Design during their time at the university.
