Simon Bowly has a broad range of experience in engineering, research, and optimization. Simon began their career in 2010 as an Intern Wind Engineer at Suzlon Group, where they developed a wind data monitoring and reporting tool using Excel VBA. In 2012, they held a Vacation Research Scholarship Student position at Monash University, where they conducted research into algorithmic stress testing for graph colouring and timetabling problems. Simon then became a Research Assistant at Monash University in 2013, followed by an Optimisation Consultant at Biarri in the same year. In 2015, they began a PhD Candidate position at Monash University, and in 2017 they began a PhD Candidate position at the University of Melbourne. In 2020, they became an Assistant Lecturer at Monash University, and in 2021 they took on the role of Optimization Engineer at Gurobi Optimization. In this role, they help customers effectively work with Gurobi's APIs, algorithms, and systems to deliver optimization applications in practice.
