James Benson

James Benson is a Senior DevOps Engineer & Cloud Architect at Guru Systems. James previously worked as Regional Sales Manager & Sustainability Coordinator at Bristol Seafood from January 2017 to August 2018, Business Development Associate at Bristol Seafood from January 2016 to December 2016, and Sustainable Seafood Project Manager at Gulf of Maine Research Institute from November 2013 to December 2015. James initiated the Aquaculture Program at GMRI through research, outreach, and program development. Prior to that, they were a Research Assistant at Sustainable Fisheries Group from October 2012 to May 2013 and Fisheries and Aquaculture Technician at Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (UFRPE) from June 2012 to September 2012.

James Benson has a Master's degree in Coastal Marine Resources Management and Conservation Planning from Bren School of Environmental Science & Management. James also has a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor from University of California, Santa Barbara. Their high school diploma is from University School of Nashville. James also has certification from McMillan Offshore in Offshore Survival Training, Global Reporting Initiative, American Academy of Underwater Sciences in Scientific Diver, and American Red Cross in CPR / First Aid.

They work with Matt Coleman - Senior Front-End Developer, Moses Mutina - Software Team Lead, and Claudia Anzani - Junior User Experience Designer. James Benson reports to Stephen Page, Chief Technical Officer.
