Smita Chandra Thomas is the CEO and Founder of Energy Shrink, LLC, since December 2015, a women-owned small business dedicated to decarbonizing the built environment through a unique fusion of design and engineering expertise. Thomas has also been a Visiting Scholar at The George Washington University since April 2021, where a course on "Decarbonizing Buildings" is taught. Previously, Thomas served as a Green Buildings Consultant for the International Finance Corporation from April 2016 to June 2022, contributing to the EDGE certification program for promoting green buildings in developing nations. With a career that includes roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, ICF International, Heschong Mahone Group, Steven Winter Associates, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and Levi Strauss India, Thomas possesses extensive experience in energy efficiency, sustainability consulting, and project management. Academic credentials include multiple degrees in Building Science from the University of California, Berkeley, UCLA, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Engineering Trivandrum.
