Patton Dodd, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience that spans across various industries and roles. Starting in 1998, they worked as a Staff Writer for New Life Church until 2005. During that time, they also served as a Graduate Teaching Instructor at Boston University from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, they became a Senior Editor and Community Producer for Fox Digital Media/Beliefnet, a position they held until 2011. From 2009 to 2009, Dodd worked as a Deputy Editor for Reader's Digest/PurposeDriven.com. Patton then joined the United States Air Force Academy as an Instructor in 2010, where they taught English literature, composition, and film studies. From 2011 to 2012, Dodd worked as a Managing Editor for Patheos.com. In 2012, they became the Executive Editor for Bondfire Books, a startup ebook company. In 2013, they took on the role of Editor in Chief at OnFaith and later became the Vice President of Content at FaithStreet. Since 2015, Dodd has been the Executive Director of Media and Communications for the H.E. Butt Foundation, where they oversee various programs and initiatives.

Patton Dodd, Ph.D., obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Colorado State University in the years 1994 to 1998. Following this, they pursued their Ph.D. from Boston University, specializing in Religion and Literature, with a specific focus on American religion in literature and film. This doctorate was achieved from 2001 to 2010.
