Habitelligence is an independent research firm focused on how homeowners explore, evaluate, and experience modern home technologies — including solar, home batteries, heating and cooling, and other critical household systems.

Today’s homeowners are being asked to make complex, high-stakes decisions about energy, comfort, reliability, and sustainability. These investments are rarely impulsive, often expensive, and frequently intimidating — especially when confidence and understanding are low.

Habitelligence studies this decision-making journey directly. Through in-depth homeowner conversations and large-scale survey research, we uncover how people move from awareness to understanding, what builds or erodes trust, and what ultimately helps homeowners feel confident enough to act.

That research is used in two ways:
• to support clearer, more practical homeowner education
• and to help companies align their products, messaging, and positioning with real homeowner needs and expectations

Our work spans three core areas:

Home Energy — How homeowners think about solar, battery storage, EV charging, and emerging energy systems, with a focus on cost, resilience, and control.

Heating & Cooling — How households evaluate heat pumps, boilers, furnaces, and smart climate technologies as comfort and electrification become more central concerns.

Water & Air — How homeowners perceive and prioritize whole-home water treatment, air filtration, and indoor environmental quality, where health and trust play an outsized role.

Habitelligence combines primary homeowner research with a pragmatic, evidence-based lens shaped by decades of B2B technology research experience — delivering insight grounded in real conversations, not assumptions.
