David Gibson

CTF Player and Security Researcher at Hack The Box

David Gibson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. David started their career as an Outreach Case Officer at Start 360/Opportunity Youth in 2014. Following that, they worked as a Home Safety Officer at Causeway Coast and Glens Council from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they joined Simon Community as a Youth Support Officer, where they worked with and supported young people facing homelessness and involvement in the criminal justice system. In 2018, David became a Health and Wellbeing Caseworker at WAVE TRAUMA, a role they held till 2021. In 2019, they also served as a RAF Reserves member in the Royal Air Force until 2023. David then transitioned into the field of cybersecurity, undertaking a Cyber Security Traineeship at IT Career Switch in 2020. David further strengthened their skills by working as a CTF Player at TryHackMe in 2020 and as a CTF Player and Security Researcher at Hack The Box from 2021 onwards. Currently, David is employed as an ICT Officer at Northern Health and Social Care Trust, where they provide technical assistance and resolves system faults. Additionally, they will also serve as an IT Patching Analyst at Northern Regional College starting from 2023.

David Gibson's education history is as follows:

From 1998 to 2003, they attended Dalriada Grammar School and obtained their GCSE.

From 2003 to 2005, they studied at Limavady College of Further Higher Education and received an Advanced BTEC Diploma in Electronic Media.

Between 2006 and 2008, David attended the University of Stirling, where they achieved a Higher National Certificate in Policing at the Scottish Police College.

In 2020 and 2021, they enrolled in IT Career Switch and completed an IT Technician Traineeship program.

David also obtained additional certifications. In August 2021, they received the CompTIA A+ ce Certification from CompTIA. In August 2022, they earned the Certified Cybersecurity certification from (ISC)².
