Haira is a nonprofit organization advancing vibrant, sustainable public spaces as a core urban infrastructure for climate resilience, social connection, and quality of life.

We work in close partnership with local authorities to plan, develop, and implement long-term, place-based interventions that respond to climate challenges while strengthening everyday urban life. Our projects transform public space into a living system that supports people, nature, and cities over time.

Haira operates through an applied methodological model integrating three interconnected spheres of action: the physical, the organizational, and the communal. We combine strategic urban frameworks with local initiatives and tactical actions, guided by learning-by-doing and data-informed decision-making.

A central pillar of our work is the promotion of nature-based solutions and the restoration of the natural layer as vital urban infrastructure - including urban forests, stream rehabilitation, shading strategies, walkability, and climate-adaptive public spaces.

We lead cross-sector partnerships involving municipalities, government bodies, professional experts, civil society organizations, and philanthropic foundations. 

Through participatory processes, we support municipalities in building shared visions, strengthening internal capacities, and developing sustainable mechanisms for planning, management, activation, and long-term maintenance of public spaces.

By translating interdisciplinary knowledge into practice, Haira creates locally tailored solutions that connect people, place, and policy - enabling cities to respond to climate change while fostering community, belonging, and resilient urban life.
