Steven Walbroehl

Co-founder & CTO at Halborn

Steven Walbroehl has worked in the information security industry for over a decade. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Senior Information Security Architect at Assurant. Steven then moved on to IBM, where they served as the VP of Web Application Security from 2014 to 2019. In 2019, Walbroehl co-founded Halborn and served as the Chief Information Security Officer. In 2020, they joined the SANS Institute as an Author and Instructor.

Steven Walbroehl holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida International University, obtained between 2010 and 2013, as well as a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University, obtained between 2001 and 2005. Steven also holds a variety of certifications, including Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect - Professional from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council, Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from (ISC)² and ISACA, GIAC Assessing and Auditing Wireless Networks (GAWN) from SANS Institute, GIAC Exploit Researcher and Advanced Penetration Tester (GXPN) from SANS Institute, GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester (GWAPT) from SANS Institute, OSCP from Offensive Security, OSWP from Offensive Security, and Stanford-Binet IQ Scale - 138 from American Mensa.
