Liesl Burger is a Principal Scientist at HALCON, where they focus on laser physics and metrology. Previously, Liesl served as the Section Head for Photometry & Radiometry at NMISA from 2016 to 2023 and worked as a Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from 1989 to 2015. Liesl holds a Master's degree in Lasers from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a PhD in Laser and Optical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Applied Maths from the University of the Witwatersrand. Liesl completed high school at Waverley Girls High School in 1983.
