Lin Sun

Lin Sun is a forensic scientist and engineer currently serving as a Senior Associate at Halliwell Forensics since March 2025, specializing in root cause analysis and expert witness services for the insurance, loss adjusting, risk management, and legal sectors. Prior experience includes roles as an Associate at Hawkins & Associates, and Lead Engineer in Materials Science and Engineering at GE Power, where Lin Sun led R&D projects focused on materials and processes for thermal power generation. Earlier positions encompass leadership in materials projects at Alstom Power, research collaboration with Rolls-Royce at the University of Cambridge, project management at the Advanced Forming Research Centre, and consultancy research at The University of Sheffield. Lin Sun holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Sheffield and a PGCert in Design of Rotating Machines from Cranfield University.
