John Matts is the chief financial officer at Hallmark Media. Matts is based in the company’s New York office and reports to President & CEO Wonya Lucas.
In this role, Matts leads the development and execution of Hallmark Media’s short and long-term finance strategies to achieve the company’s bottom line and operational objectives.
For over a decade, Matts has established a strong track record in delivering savings and driving profitability for major television network groups. Matts joined Hallmark Media from NBCUniversal, where he served as the chief financial officer for the Golf Channel. Through this role, Matts designed and executed a finance strategy that mobilized funding for a renewed rights deal with the PGA Tour. He worked across the business to simplify processes and leverage technologies to redefine how the Golf Channel operates.
In addition, Matts held the position of vice president of production & operations, finance for the broader NBC Sports Group, where he was instrumental in automating process and increasing access to data to drive sustained savings across the production portfolio. Matts also worked with the NBC News Group to support cable news properties.
Prior to NBCUniversal, Matts served in senior finance roles at Paramount – formerly Viacom Media Networks – in their corporate finance group. Leading a major transformation of the company’s finance and accounting functions, Matts piloted the company in redesigning processes, implementing systems, and reorganizing the team globally to create a best-in-class business.
Matts is involved and volunteers in his local community in Westchester, New York where he resides with his wife and two children.
