Loránd Cheng is currently serving as an AI Resident at 1X Technologies since May 2025 and is also a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology, focusing on generative modeling for robotics, LLM-guided reinforcement learning, and multi-objective preference optimization. Prior experience includes a full-time research position at the University of Southern California's Robotics and Autonomous Systems REU site and roles as a Teaching Assistant for embedded systems and distributed systems. Cheng has also worked as a Research Intern at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, concentrating on preference learning and multi-objective reinforcement learning, and contributed to projects involving electronics engineering, including the Crani-Arm design and computer vision. Cheng holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Machine Learning and Robotics at Georgia Institute of Technology.
