Sam Kelly is a Senior Production Engineer at Halter since September 2025, previously serving as Chief Technology Officer at FaunaLabs from May 2021 to September 2025, where Sam developed a next-generation wearable collar to monitor animal health through optical sensors. As Co-Founder and Lead Engineer of Sentinel AI at Conservation X Labs from May 2018 to May 2024, Sam retrofitted cameras for remote data collection, deployed in twelve countries. Sam's earlier positions include Director of Conservation Technology and Product Development Engineer at Duke University Pratt School of Engineering, and Co-Founder and President of Duke Conservation Tech, a student group addressing conservation issues. Prior to these roles, Sam interned at Forever Oceans in underwater robotics and consulted for Crimson Education. Sam holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
