Sam McGillicudy has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. From 2019 to the present, they have worked at Halter as a Firmware R&D Engineer and prior to this role, they served as a Mechatronics Intern at the same company. In 2019, Sam also worked as a Software Engineer at Invoke, and as a Lab Assistant at The University of Auckland. Before that, they worked as an Independent Software Developer for Samsung from 2017 to 2018. Sam's earliest work experience was at SEW Eurodrive, where they worked as a Machine Operator/General Factory Worker from 2016 to 2018, handling various tasks including factory work, cutting and machining materials, assembling equipment, and office tasks such as scanning documents and organizing files.

Sam McGillicudy attended The University of Auckland from 2018 to 2021, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Mechatronics Engineering. Prior to attending university, Sam achieved NCEA (Levels 1, 2 & 3) with Excellence from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority in December 2017. In September 2019, Sam also obtained a Site Safe - Foundation Passport (Building Construction) certification from Site Safe New Zealand Inc.
