Derek Smith, CFA, is an experienced finance professional with a strong background in both operational and compliance roles. Since September 2009, Derek has held multiple leadership positions at Hamilton ETFs, including Partner, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Managing Director, showcasing expertise in financial management and compliance oversight. Prior to this, Derek co-founded Pebble Technology, a startup focused on wireless technology solutions, during the final year of studies at the University of Waterloo, where the inPulse smartwatch for BlackBerry was developed. Additional experience includes consulting at Boswell Capital, product design at Desire2Learn, mentoring at the University of Waterloo, and various roles in IT and engineering. Derek holds a BASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
