Steve Phelps

Steve Phelps is a seasoned professional in petroleum geology exploration and development, currently serving as GM Exploration and Subsurface at Hancock Energy since 2025. They have over 41 years of experience, including leadership roles at BP and Shell, alongside significant contributions to new business development and renewables with Private Equity. Previously, Phelps held positions such as Manager of Exploration and Growth at QatarEnergy and Head of Exploration at Squadron Energy. They earned a First Class summa cum laude B.Sc in Applied Geophysics from the University of Wales, Cardiff, completing their degree in 1984.
