David G. has extensive experience as an entrepreneur and business leader. David began their career in 1997 as Co-Founder and Director of Business Development at Hjalp ehf. David then moved to VYRE as Director of Business Development in 1998. In 1999, they co-founded Handtölvur ehf. with two classmates from engineering at the University of Iceland. Handtölvur was a pioneer in industrial PDA software solutions, servicing all the utility companies in Iceland and around 50% of the retail and wholesale market. In 2006, they co-founded Unga ástin mín ehf., a children's book publishing company, with their wife. This company grew to become the leading children's book brand in Iceland and was sold to BF-Utgafa in August 2013. In 2008, they co-founded Handpoint ehf., which pioneered mobile chip&PIN (embedded EMV) payments, powering Europe’s leading airlines. Handpoint also operated a payments switch, processing 98% of all card transactions in Iceland. In 2014, they became CEO and Co-Founder of Handpoint. With close to $3m in revenue, Handpoint sold all its technology (IPRs) and revenue (all customer relationships) in order to raise funds for a new venture (from scratch).
David G. began their educational journey in 1992 when they attended MR. From 1996 to 2000, they attended Háskóli Íslands, where they earned a B.sc in industrial and mechanical engineering. In 1997 and 1998, they attended DTU - Technical University of Denmark, studying industrial and mechanical engineering. In 2017, they began a Doctor of Philosophy program at the University of Cambridge, specializing in preference for order & symmetry in OCD and Autism. David is expected to complete their PhD in Psychiatry in 2022.
