Founded in 1928 by Carl Hanser, the company is still owned by the family of the publisher's founder. Hanser, a medium-sized company, is one of the few remaining independent publishing houses of distinction and has been one of the 40 largest publishing houses in Germany for years. The company is headquartered in Munich, Germany, where approximately 250 employees work in three buildings.  

Hanser Fachverlage is one of the 10 largest German technical-scientific publishing houses and offers practice-relevant content in various media forms. Whether specialist information in printed and electronic form, conferences, trade fairs, marketplaces or consulting and services - customers are in good hands here.

Hanser Literaturverlage stands for a publishing house with a diversity that is unrivalled in the industry. The range extends from picture books for small children to children's and youth literature to a wide selection of contemporary literature from all regions of the world. This fiction programme is complemented by careful classic editions by international authors and by a non-fiction programme that conveys knowledge and initiates discussion in contemporary debates.
