One of the ways our work began was simply by paying attention to where and how students gather. Sitting in and around universities, we noticed clear differences between student-dominated spaces and more general public ones  not just in noise or energy, but in how ideas were asserted, reinforced, and echoed within groups.

Those early observations shaped an ethnographic approach that stays deliberately light-touch. Rather than pulling personal stories out of people, we focus on patterns that emerge when students are supported to reflect and share structured, anonymised information — often peer-to-peer. Over time, this has allowed us to surface meaningful correlations without asking anyone to disclose intimate detail.

That balance between observation, anonymity, and upstream insight continues to guide how we work alongside universities and institutions.
