Alex Tylee has a diverse work experience spanning over several years.
Starting in 1998, Tylee worked at Ricardo UK as a Principal Engineer, leading the transmission design analysis CAE team and managing automotive transmission design and development projects.
In 2004, Tylee moved on to Romax Technology as an Engineering Services Manager, where they focused on developing a new consultancy business for transmission design and development. Alex also played a key role in establishing a wind turbine gearbox business stream and managed major automotive and wind turbine design projects.
In 2006, Tylee joined Tylee-Birdsall & Co as a Director, providing project management support and training. Alex also contributed to quality management system development and auditing and helped in resource management and business structuring for engineering companies.
In 2007, Tylee founded Drive System Design, a company that grew to a successful business worth over £16m with operations in the UK and USA. Starting as Technical Director, they later took on operational roles including finance, IT, HR, program management, and legal.
In 2014, Tylee became the Managing Director of Evolute Drives Limited, a technology company that develops intellectual property generated by Drive System Design. Their primary product is a 3-Speed Electric Vehicle Transmission designed to reduce power consumption compared to existing units.
From 2019 to the present, Tylee has been running Tylee Ltd as the Managing Director and Founder. This role involves providing engineering and business strategy consultancy, executive support and advice for companies with high growth aspirations.
In 2019, Tylee also joined SMT as a Technical Specialist and Advisor, offering technical advice and sales and marketing strategy to promote the company's software products globally.
From 2020 to 2022, Tylee worked at Prospedia Capital as a Senior Associate, preparing early-stage companies for investment and raising funds for their growth. Prospedia Capital specializes in offering investors vetted investment opportunities in the automotive sector.
Lastly, starting in February 2022, Tylee assumed the role of Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Harbinger.
Alex Tylee completed their education from 1994 to 1998 at Imperial College London, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an MEng.
