Harlesden Ummah is a Community Centre and Non-profit Organisation based in Harlesden (Borough of Brent, North West London).

MISSION
Our mission is to join the in the struggle to uphold and maintain a civil society where people can co-exist and live together in peace.

We aim to do this by participating in existing and creating new initiatives that enhance the stability of civilisation and tackle head on those things that are evidently threats to the progression of civil society.

We aim to consistently help in the fight to eradicate crime and violence by building infrastructure that will serve as a means of cure and prevention. One day we hope to be able to look back and say that collectively we have been able to send the notorious reputation of Harlesden as a crime capital, into the dustbins of history.

We strive to help local communities integrate and co-exist into their society in a uniquely positive, progressive and meaningful way.

It is our belief that there a number of matters that are fundamental to the success of our mission, namely:

- The search for meaning or purpose of life
- The identification of our cultural vices and virtues, promoting the later and suppressing the former.

STORY
After seeing the need for a Community Centre in the local area of Harlesden, Mr Mustapha Badru was inspired to change his flourishing business premises into a Community Centre for all. He put his faith in God that for the sacrifice he had made that God in turn might provide him with another location for his business. Within a couple of weeks, a neighbouring shop became available for him to rent. Consequently Mr Badru was able to continue his business whilst laying the foundations of this much needed mosque and community centre. Mr Badru together with the help of a few enthusiastic and dedicated local residents, began this new community initiative.

This was the beginning of “Harlesden Ummah Community Centre”.

Since then the mosque and community centre has gradually grown along with a buzzing and high spirited community.
