Sara McElroy

Sara McElroy, PharmD, MS has diverse work experience in the pharmacy field. Sara is currently serving as the Director of Pharmacy Programs at HarmonyCares since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Optum as the Director of Pharmacy Strategy and Programs from November 2021 to October 2022, and as the Associate Director of Pharmacy Strategy and Programs from July 2020 to November 2021.

Before joining Optum, Sara worked at The Polyclinic for several roles, including Pharmacy Program Manager, Quality, and Safety from December 2019 to July 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Clinical Pharmacist and Supervisor of Clinical Pharmacist from 2013 to 2019.

Sara started their career as a PGY1 Community Pharmacist Resident at the University of Washington from July 2012 to June 2013. Sara also gained experience as an Inpatient Pharmacy Intern at Virginia Mason Medical Center from July 2008 to June 2012.

Additionally, Sara actively contributed to the American Pharmacists Association, serving as the APhA-ASP National President and a member of the Board of Trustees from March 2011 to March 2012.

Sara McElroy, PharmD, MS, completed their education at various prestigious institutions. Sara obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology from Connecticut College from 1999 to 2003. Afterwards, they pursued a Master's degree (MS) in Biochemistry from Duke University from 2003 to 2006. Finally, they graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Washington in 2012.
